US economy expands 2.7% in third quarter

The US economy expanded faster than previously forecast.  GDP data showed that the pace of growth was at a 2.7 percent annual rate, helped by a narrower trade deficit and gains in inventory. This was enough to overshadow a drop in consumer spending. US economy grows more than expected in third quarter

US third quarter GDP data released today show the economy grew more than expected to 2 percent. Most of the boost to growth was by consumer spending. Business spending and trade was lower though and the overall pace of growth remains too slow to be able to boost the sluggish US labour market.
